Toddler Room

WE CURRENTLY HAVE SPACES AVAILABLE IN OUR TODDLER ROOM

The toddler room is a bright and spacious room, and this combined with our friendly, caring and enthusiastic staff team, makes a friendly and welcoming ethos and a stimulating environment for your child.

The Birth to Three framework has also been implemented in this room. Children need to have a sense of belonging, a feeling of being welcome and of being important and valued if they are to contribute and participate, feel happy and thrive. Feeling included is supported by responsive care. This supported with a flexible environment which adapts to children’s immediate interests and needs provides a very safe and welcoming environment for our toddlers.

Birth to Three identifies experiences that children under 3 should have under four separate headings:

•    Sense of self and others
•    Communication
•    Curiosity
•    Movement and co-ordination

Young children develop and learn most happily in an environment that is full of opportunities for them to explore, create and follow their own particular interests.

We have our messy area which has sand, water, soil, gloop, shaving foam, pasta or jelly baths to encourage exploration of the senses and to aid children’s understanding of the different properties of materials, as well as an art & craft table where your child will have the opportunity to investigate and use a variety of media and techniques such as painting, drawing & printing or modelling with paper mache, junk or clay.

There is a role play corner, dressing up clothes, puppets and musical instruments all there for your child to enjoy and experience.

Maths and writing areas are provided for children to explore and experience.

Construction toys are also available, as are puzzles and a lovely quiet reading area with lots of books.

The children are encouraged to access our outdoor play area at least twice a day; there is a climbing frame, bikes, scooters and a parachute to play with. The play area has artificial safety surfacing which allows the children to play outside safely all year round. In the summer sail shades are erected to provide extra protection from the sun. We also enjoy walks in the surrounding countryside throughout the year. Please ensure your child comes to nursery prepared for all weathers!

We also have a sensory room called the ‘Snug’. This room provides lots of sensorial experiences and activities and also provides a calm and soothing area for the children to relax in throughout the day.

Some of our younger children still go for a sleep or rest after lunch and we provide an opportunity for this. We prefer that the children are all awake by 2pm so we can start afternoon activities.

2-3 Room can accommodate 23 children
We are open for 50 weeks of the year from 7.45am to 5.45pm Monday to Friday.  We close for two weeks at Christmas and New Year.  We offer full and half-day sessions, but as continuity is important to children, we ask that they must attend a minimum of two sessions per week.
Morning Session:   7.45am – 12.45pm
Afternoon Session:   1.00pm – 5.45pm
