Baby Room

WE CURRENTLY ONLY HAVE A FEW SPACES LEFT IN OUR BABY ROOM !

Our Baby Room provides a happy and relaxed atmosphere, so children feel comfortable and confident to leave their parents. The Baby Room takes 12 babies, and the children are cared for by shared key workers who provide stability for both children and their parents.  We try to follow children’s home routines as much as possible, as it helps to build trust and confidence between child and carer.  We also give daily record sheets to parents retelling their child’s day at nursery. We like to work closely with parents and others involved with the child. Close partnerships allow all the important information about the child to be shared, reflected upon and acted upon. The expertise and experience of both parents and early year’s educators are valuable and they have most value when they are shared.

The Baby Room works alongside the Birth to Three Framework. This framework is based on the fundamental principle of equality of opportunity. An inclusive approach is essential to the provision of high quality care and education for all young children and their families. Inclusive practices benefit all children.

We provide a variety of games and activities adapted to the children’s age and stage of development. Each day the baby room is set out with various toys.  We have building blocks, shape and colour sorters, spinning tops, balls, musical instruments, soft play, rattles, books and many heuristic materials and resources. All are safety checked for this age group.  The children will also have the opportunity to join in various activities, eg.  wet sand, pasta, water play, painting, play dough, experiencing play with jelly and shaving foam, all under close supervision.

The children are taken outside on a daily basis to play in our adjoining, secure, garden area. It is of good size and is equipped with a range of toys suiting the age group.  It also has artificial safety surfacing which enables us to make use of this area throughout all seasons. In the summer a sail shade is erected to provide extra protection from the sun. The children also enjoy regular walks in the surrounding countryside. We will aim to provide the opportunity for the children to take part in physical play twice a day.

There is a cot room adjoining the play room.  This has adequate cots and bedding for each individual child and soft lighting to provide a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. However if your baby sleeps in a pushchair, we are able to put them outside our back door and see them from the room should you wish them to sleep outside.

There is a separate baby changing/toilet room.  Each child has their own storage area in this room for nappies/wipes etc.

Baby Room (6 weeks to 2 years) can accommodate 12 children
We are open for 50 weeks of the year from 7.45am to 5.45pm Monday to Friday.  We close for two weeks at Christmas and New Year.  We offer full and half-day sessions, but as continuity is important to children, we ask that they must attend a minimum of two sessions per week.
Morning Session:   7.45am – 12.45pm
Afternoon Session:   1.00pm – 5.45pm
